What does "CheVogue" mean?
"Chevogue" is created from the french word for "hair" (Cheveaux) and the word "vogue". In my translation it means, "the most current trend in hair".
How long have you been doing hair?
I (Desiree Burris) have been styling hair since I was about 16. I began by teaching myself techniques in a hairspray-filled room and a hand-held mirror. I soon started doing weddings and proms, and that sparked my interest in fashion. Once I started in the fashion industry I knew that was my passion and there has been no looking back. I am self-taught and a little quirky in the way I do things, but I think that's what sets me apart. I am now a New York hairstylist , instructor at a makeup school, and hair director for two Fashion Week Shows.
What is your inspiration?
My inspiration comes from so many things - mostly my creative collegues. I am very much inspired by my surroundings and like to go to new environments.
What is your dream?
To impact fashion, culture, and society with my vision. What I see in my mind is art... wether it be a hairstyle, concept, or feeling, it is art. I want to make that art come alive and impact someone's life. Knowing I have accomplished that would bring me peace.
Why would I choose you over another stylist?
Because I am truly unique and creative. I believe I am the best at what I do, and I work hard to customize hairstyles and concepts. Choose me because of the quality work I do and because of who I am.
